Rules

LITERARY SOCIETY GRÄFELFING
founded in 1921 as a society for literature, art and music
as of 01.09.2009, revised 2023

1. The LITERARY SOCIETY GRÄFELFING (hereinafter referred to as LG) is based in Gräfelfing and pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes within the meaning of the section "Tax-privileged purposes" of the German Tax Code.
The LG has set itself the goal of familiarizing all citizens interested in culture with the issues of our time. The activities of the LG are non-partisan and non-denominational.
 

2. The LG continues its tradition, established in 1921, of regularly organizing readings by authors, lectures and events from the entire field of arts and sciences, politics, history and the like.

3. The LG is a non-profit organization; it does not primarily pursue its own economic purposes. Any profits of the LG may only be used for statutory purposes. If profits are made, the members shall not receive any profit shares or any other benefits from the funds of the LG in their capacity as members. The funds of the LG may only be used for statutory purposes. No person may benefit from expenses that are alien to the purpose of the LG or from disproportionately high remuneration.

4. The LG is represented in and out of court by the Executive Board, which is elected at a general meeting and consists of the 1st Chairman, a first deputy, a further deputy and the treasurer. The 1st Chairman and his deputies act alone. Internally, it is stipulated that the first deputy shall only act if the first chairman is unable to do so and the other deputy shall only act if the first chairman and the other deputy are unable to do so. The treasurer's power of representation is regulated by a resolution of the Board of Directors.

The entire Board of Directors can appoint a management and an advisory board and form working groups by resolution.

5. An annual general meeting shall be held at which the Board of Directors reports on the work of the previous year, the development of assets and the results of the cash audit. The General Meeting appoints two cash auditors who examine the Board of Directors' report on the development of assets and the regularity of financial transactions. The appointed auditors remain in office until the General Assembly of Members fills the office.
If necessary, the Board of Directors may convene a General Meeting at any time. It is obliged to do so if at least two thirds of the members request this, stating an agenda.

6 Membership of the LG is by written application to one of the members of the Executive Board or a Managing Director. Upon confirmation of membership by the Executive Board, each member shall receive a
membership card and a copy of these statutes. Resignation from the LG must be made in writing and can be declared at the end of a year. The membership fee must then be paid by the end of the current calendar year. Paid membership fees and donations will not be refunded.
Membership generally entitles the member to free admission to events. Exceptions are individual events designated by the Executive Board.

7. The membership fees are determined by the General Meeting. They currently amount to

 

30 € for individual members, 
40 € for married couples and 
10 € for pupils and students
 

 

8. Non-self-employed children of members can be exempted from contributions by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors decides on reductions in membership fees in the event of financial hardship. The annual membership fees are due on June 30. Honorary chairmen and honorary members are exempt from contributions, as are the respective members of the Executive Board, managing directors, heads of working groups and advisory board members.

 

8. The "lnformationsdienst", the advertising journal of the Würmtal communities, is the publication organ for announcing lectures, general meetings and all other events. Members receive the programs for the two half-years in good time.

9. The dissolution of the LG can only take place if it is approved by at least two thirds of all members present at the general meeting. In the event of the dissolution of the LG, the members shall not receive back more than their cash contributions and the fair market value of their contributions in kind. Membership fees and donations shall not be refunded. If the LG is dissolved or abolished or if its previous purpose ceases to exist, the assets of the LG shall be transferred to the Gräfelfing Community Foundation, which shall use them directly and exclusively for charitable purposes.
